This internationally recognised process determines exact gold content by separating precious metals at very high temperatures, and is considered the global benchmark for precision. MPC Gold Laboratory uses Fire Assay testing alongside XRF analysis to deliver reliable results.
Yes. Gold jewellery can be tested without any damage using XRF technology. XRF analysers use X-ray fluorescence to determine the metal composition instantly, without cutting or melting the item.
XRF testing usually takes only a few minutes, as the analyser quickly reads the metal composition. Fire assay testing takes longer — often several hours — since it involves sample preparation, melting, and detailed laboratory analysis.
Fire assay involves melting a small sample at very high temperatures, delivering the highest level of precision and globally recognised results. XRF testing analyses the surface of the metal using X-ray technology without damaging the item, making it ideal for quick, non-destructive purity checks.
